A lawsuit alleging BMW falsely stated 2021 430i and 430i xDrive cars had cornering lights on LED headlights has settled. As we previously reported, the lawsuit, filed in May 2021, asserted the vehicles did not actually have the cornering lights—a safety feature that assists drivers in going around dark corner. The plaintiff asserted drivers could dangerously rely on the non-existent safety feature.

In November 2021, lawyers for BMW of North America, LLC, informed the court the parties had settled the matter, and the Court ordered the parties to file all papers necessary to dismiss the case or move to reopen the case, if settlement became unsuccessful. In January 2022, the parties jointly moved for dismissal of the case, which the Court granted.

The case is Garry Porter, Jr. v. BMW of North America, LLC, case number 2:21-cv-11316, in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
